Beautiful Surrounding Countryside
Hinxhill is a small but very well connected hamlet tucked away in the Kent countryside just few minutes from Junction 10 and 10a of the M20. It sits just outside the boundary of the William Harvey Hospital – once of three large NHS hospitals for East Kent. It is just 4 miles in to Ashford town centre and the Ashford international railway station , but only one mile to the Tesco Extra at Willesborough North off Junction 10 .
Why Live in Hinxhill?
The hamlet is dominated by the Hinxhill Estate and the Church of St Mary’s.
The name Hinxhill is thought to refer to “the place of Hengest” a legendary Anglo Saxon leader in the 5th century. St Mary’s church , which dates from the 13th century was always a local parish church, part of a larger benefice. Today Hinxhill is a hamlet within the civil parish of Wye and Hinxhill . The Hinxhill Estate has a substantial Rectory near the Church as part of the cluster of buildings that made up the Manor of Hinxhill once owned by the Earl of Athol.
Today it is an idyllic corner of countryside on rising ground with great views north over farmland to the Wye Down , and great connections south onto the road network and a full range of shops, schools and pubs as well as the hospital.
