Godinton Park is a suburban area on the north west edge of Ashford that takes its name from the historic house and garden beyond it. The development was built in what was once a plantation known as Loudon Wood in the Godinton Estate. The road into Godinton Park from the A28 is named Loudon Way. To the north is the more recent Repton Park development built after the Joint Services Intelligence School at Repton Barracks moved away to make way for the high speed railway line (HS1) which runs in a sound protected cutting between the Repton and Godinton estates. The military connection at this location continues with the REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) Army Reserve Centre, who have thriving cadet contingent.
Why Live in Godinton Park?
Godinton Park is well connected into Ashford with cycle-ways and buses and has a well laid out centre with shops, a school, community centre and pub. There is a long established and always evolving industrial park at Cobbs Wood to the south across the A28, and to the west the tranquil gardens and parkland of Godinton House, a Jacobean manor house and gardens steeped in the history and fortunes of old Ashford families.
The Godinton area, including the historic house is an electoral Ward within the town of Ashford, represented by a Borough Councillor.
