The Top 100 UK Street Names Countdown continues.

This week we start with the streets ranked 90th through to 86th by the total number of homes sold between 1 January 2023 and 31 December 2025.

At number 90 is Forest Road. Streets bearing the Forest name often trace their origins back to historic woodland, former common land, or areas once subject to medieval forest law. In many towns, the name reflects land that was once rural before later residential expansion. Over the period, the average price paid on Forest Road was £430,009.

Coming in at number 89 is Gordon Road. Gordon is widely associated with the influential Scottish Clan Gordon and became a fashionable street name during the nineteenth century, particularly in areas developed during periods of imperial confidence. In some locations, it may also reference a local landowner or benefactor. The average price paid on Gordon Road was £368,113.

At number 88 sits Brighton Road. Streets named after prominent towns or cities were frequently used to denote the direction of travel out of a settlement, often marking historic coaching or early railway routes. The Brighton name also carried aspirational seaside connotations during the Victorian expansion era. The average price paid on Brighton Road was £484,565.

Moving to number 87 is Charles Street. Charles has strong royal associations, most commonly linked to King Charles I or King Charles II, particularly following the Restoration in the seventeenth century. In some cases, it may honour a local developer, yet the royal influence is typically the starting point. Homes on Charles Street recorded an average price of £384,319.

Completing this week’s selection at number 86 is Derby Road. Derby often reflects either a historic route towards the city of Derby or a nod to the powerful Earls of Derby, whose name appears frequently in street naming across Britain. The average price paid on Derby Road over the three year period was £346,145.
Next time, the countdown continues as we move on to streets ranked 85th down to 81st, gradually working our way towards number one.
