Over the last few years, comparison sites have become more and more popular in day to day life, whether it be for holidays, buying electrical items and even now for estate agents. These sites make claims of being independent, impartial and that they are able to help clients save money but despite being one of the leading agencies in our area, we don’t subscribe to them.
We appear at the top of their rankings but we have asked these various sites on numerous occasions to explain their criteria without a satisfactory response. When challenged on specifics they have all been unable to articulately explain their own procedures. These failings in combination of their average 0.25% fee for providing an e-mail lead to an agent have deterred us from accepting their leads. This fee is often passed on to clients who enquire via these websites so far from saving money, it is actually costing more.
